Hard to just sit n listen to today's khutbah. some very arguable spin on human history. oppression n hardsip did not discriminate. of course men did most of the evil deeds, but they are also inflicted on other men. oppression wasnt based on sexism, it was a class n caste war. even during the prophet's time, sahabat2 lelaki dan wanita mostly dari kalangan hamba sahaya diseksa, tapi dari kalangan bangsawan nda. kalau benar men had it easy, tell that to bilal, khabbab, zubair, mus'ab. of course women like sumayyah n few budak wanita also kena. but what about the likes of Khadijah, Asma, Umar, Ali? kena sekat dan pulaukan, yes. but werent subjected to extreme torture, why? was it because of their gender or their social status?
Way back before that, didnt we have men slaves? only women n girls slaves built the pyramid? who were the major casualties of wars n battles? did men of the oppressed class get free passes in nazi germany, in stalin soviet, mao china, during their killing spree? Didn't we have queens, princesses, female socialites during those so-called eras of "men oppressions"? how come you can confidently say seolah-olah hanya wanita saja yang penuh kesusahan sepanjang sejarah manusia?
The most important ayat in the Quran regarding male/female relationships and gender roles.. was not even mentioned! (An-Nisa ayat 34). Im afraid we are only giving half-truth n incomplete pictures of what Al-Quran says about the roles, rights n responsibilities of both men and women.
Indeed, in the sight of Allah, everyone is the same, yang membezakan cuma ketaqwaan. tapi hatta dalam kesamaan atu, hukum hakam ugama yang dikenakan ada jua yang berbeza di antara kedua jantina.
I am also very worried, macam ada sudah "bau-bau" liberalism kana perkenalkan dalam negara ani. now dari kalangan agamawan pun tersampuk dengan "progressivism" and wanting to be politically correct.
Feminism, gender issues, "equality", inclusivity, social justice n acceptance movement to me are some red flags that we need to be very careful about as most of these are the political talking points pushed by the left-leaning liberals. if we are not careful, it will slowly evolve into something very nasty in the future, as evident of what is currently happening in the west.
